And sometimes, that’s enough to keep you engaged and watching, even if the film itself could have been lighter-handed. The Witch: Part 1 The Subversion is a film leaning on its excitement and its thrills. The villain gives a speech, the hero does her thing, and then all of a sudden, the film ends in a quiet stillness after a major flurry of plot and 30 minutes of high-intensity fighting. And in a matter of minutes, you go from knowing nothing to knowing everything. You aren’t necessarily ready for the big reveals or the dozens of deaths that follow. Park’s thriller flips on a dime it’s the movie’s best quality and biggest downfall. It’s fiction, yes, but in this specific time in the world, it’s hard not to relate nearly everything you see with some aspect of the world around you and those you love, or even those you barely know. Though the themes are a bit worn, the idea of children losing their innocence and being raised with and through violence has an eerie, slightly reaching similarity to those growing up in places and situations where violence is on every corner. this weekend, likely giving it a much wider platform outside of its original theatrical release. The film came out two years ago in South Korea but just hit Netflix in the U.S. The action is riveting, and if the plot doesn’t reel you in, the action gives any viewer a good reason to keep watching, though you’ll have to stomach large quantities of blood and bullets. The Witch: Part 1 The Subversion brings together elements of young adult novels and stories of the last 20 years, along with the fast-paced action of large scale set pieces, like the ones seen in the James Bond franchise. Park’s film hedges on the vengeance of this girl, and her anger over her upbringing, one as a lab subject of sorts. None of that matters, though, as the entire first hour sets up the twists and turn of the back half of the film, in which the audience learns everything about Ja-yoon’s past, her present, and her plan for the future. Due to money problems, she decides to try out and advances in a national singing/talent competition. Kim Da-mi plays Ja-yoon, a girl who grew up with simple parents on a simple farm. The Subversion opens up with a young girl running for her life, only for it to immediately fast-forward 10 years into the future. Following a teenage girl’s interaction with a group of people from her past, Park’s film remains taut and tense during its 125-minute runtime. Korean writer-director Hoon-jung Park is counting on that fact with his 2018 film The Witch: Part 1 The Subversion, likely a more confusing title due to the translation into English. There’s nothing like a good revenge thriller. The Subversion uses incredible action sequences, gorgeous visuals, and enough twists to keep you entertained, despite the jam-packed plot.

The “purpose of a bill of particulars to amplify or limit a pleading, specify more minutely and particularly a claim or defense set up and pleaded in general terms, give information, not contained in the pleading, to the opposite party and the court as to the precise nature, character, scope, and extent of the cause of action or defense relied on by the pleader…”(Virata v. This is in contrast to a Bill of Particulars that is submitted by a party whose pleading is being complained about after the court orders the submission of the details requested. To be clear, in civil cases, the Motion for Bill of Particulars points out the defects and the details desired in a Complaint before the filing of an Answer, in an Answer before the filing of a Reply, or in a Reply before the filing of a Rejoinder. (see Section 1, Rule 12 and Section 9, Rule 116). In such a situation, before responding to a pleading or before the accused is arraigned, a party may file a motion for a bill of particulars identifying the defects in the subject pleading and the details desired. There are instances, however, in both civil and criminal cases, when the drafting of the complaint or information is defective or vague. It is the duty of the State in indicting the accused to apprise him or her of the crime allegedly committed, its elements, the manner of its commission, and the jurisdiction of the court to hear, try, and decide the case. The requirement of sufficiency of information goes back to the constitutional right of the accused “to be informed of the nature and cause of accusation against him” (Section 14, Article III, 1987 Constitution). In criminal cases, “ complaint or information is sufficient if it states the name of the accused the designation of the offense given by the statute the acts or omissions complained of as constituting the offense the name of the offended party the approximate date of the commission of the offense and the place where the offense was committed” (Section 6, Rule 110, Rules of Criminal Procedure). The purpose of this provision is to make the parties’ litigants aware of the facts in controversy and the issues sought to be resolved by the courts. Pleadings in civil cases must contain “in a methodical and logical form, a plain, concise and direct statement of the ultimate facts, including the evidence on which the party pleading relies for his claim or defense” (Section 1, RRules of Civil Procedure). “If there is a defect in the criminal information or if the facts charged do not constitute an offense, the court shall order an amendment of the information instead of quashing it” Typically you print them out, keep them in a secure location, and check them off as you use each one. You have to work to breathe, especially to breath out. The problem with that is when your bronchioles are constricted and swollen and has mucus in them, that narrow little opening is hard to breathe through. When they're hyper-alert and they respond to something that's not truly dangerous. Asthma happens when your airways are hyper-responsive. And if it's still there, still irritating, mucus will begin to be secreted to be able again to capture and protect you from those toxins. Inflammatory stuff to help protect you from those toxins. If that toxic cloud is still there, to protect your delicate tissues deep in your lungs, swelling of the lining will happen. The first thing that will happen is the muscles around the bronchioles will tighten, will constrict down almost like a boa constrictor, and you get the tight airways. Now if you happen to walk into a cloud of something that's toxic, your body is going to respond instantly to try to protect you. And those bronchioles are where the wheezing happens. It's almost like a tree's branches branching out. And from there they break into a whole bunch of little, smaller bronchioles. When you breathe in, the air comes through your nose or mouth, through the big windpipe and breaks into 2 big bronchi, one into each lung. Well to understand that, first let's all take a deep breath together (inhales). Alan Greene and I want to talk with you for a moment about how to tell the difference, what causes wheezing anyway, and when is it healthy and when is it not. Wheezing can be a normal healthy response to an unhealthy environment. I fell in love with this breed about 14 years ago and have. Breeding of the Cavalier King Charles spaniel in the United States took hold on a limited basis in the 1950s, but the breed was not fully recognized by the American Kennel Club until 1996. My name is Kara Valera and I am a small show breeder in Houston Tx. In the early 1900s breeders attempted to recreate the earlier version of the breed they were largely successful and so was born the Cavalier King Charles spaniel. These modern King Charles spaniels, also known as Charlies, had flatter faces, undershot jaws and domed skulls. By the mid-19th century, the English fashioned a new look for the toy spaniel and standardized its appearance. In the early days, breed standards were not recognized, although toy spaniels generally had flat heads, pointed muzzles and high-set ears. King Charles II was seldom seen without two or three Cavaliers at his heels, and he wrote a decree - still in effect today - that his namesake spaniel be accepted in any public place, including the Houses of Parliament, which were generally off-limits to animals. Additionally, there are three battle tools available (along with the default catapult for sieges): Ammo Carts, Ballistas, and First Aid Tents.Ĭombining all these different unit types, with the spells it is possible to cast, the way the skills of the hero greatly effect the troops, terrain advantages and disadvantages, and the battle tools, you will find that although troops are important, a good general is what really wins the war. Units come in stacks, and up to seven stacks can be used per army. Each of these secondary skills has three levels of mastery, and one skill can be chosen or enhanced for every level the hero gains.Ĭombat is handled from a side-view that is very attractive and gives you a nice, close-up view of the beautifully rendered units. Logistics allows you to move faster over the adventure map, Armorer lowers the damage your troops take, Sorcery increases the damage of your spells, and the four elemental magic skills enhance your spell power in that field. Heroes also have eight secondary skill slots which they can fill with a great selection of skills. Spells can totally change the course of combat a well-placed Meteor Storm could smash that stack of archers and the pesky enemy first aid tent, or a thoughtful Cure could save your last angel by being killed from that horde of pikemen. These spells can be learned by visiting Mages Guilds, which require increasing amount of resources to be built in castles at higher levels. Four different elemental schools and five levels of power are available to draw spells from. These four skills are the main defining attributes of a hero. They can also cast spells, the power and amount of which are derived from their Knowledge and Power skills. Heroes enhance their troops with their Attack and Defense skills. All units have varying attack, defense, damage, and speed ratings. All of these troops will have unique powers some can shoot, fly, have two attacks, etc. The castle types vary from the goodly Castles and elemental Confluxes to the foul Necropolises and smoldering Infernos. There are seven levels of troops per Castle, and two types of heroes- one of might, one of magic- to command them. Some very powerful troops require recourses to be hired. With these recourses, you can build things in your castle make better buildings to get better or enhanced troops, to defend your castle better, etc. You get them from mines- or lying around the map, but mines are the only constant source of income. Recourses are necessary to accomplish anything in this game. There are Artifacts you can find and wield to enhance hero's, or your troops, power. The basic idea of the game is that you have Castles, which produce troops and Heroes to command the troops and lead them around the map. Is there anything wrong with that? No! Quite to the contrary, it means that the game has essentially had an extra 10 years of beta testing and experience behind it. Those who have played HoMM 1 or 2 will have no problems diving right into 3. Better graphics, neater interface, a couple new hero types- but essentially it's the same game you're playing. The game, you see, is really just an enhancement off the previous versions. All the features have been perfected over 4 games (Including the prequel to the HoMM series, King's Bounty) and 3 expansions, so you can be sure that the game is pretty much flawless. Sure, it could be better, but I mean perfect as in, everything that is in the game is done just right. And then Shadow of Death, with its own slew of additions.Īll together in the Complete addition, this is simply a perfect package. Then came Armageddon's Blade, which added new creatures, features, a whole new castle type, and more. The patches, one by one, fixed up the bugs. Heroes of Might and Magic III was a great game when it was first released. Note that between-adjacent-harmonic whole-tone scales change direction at the ninth harmonic at the seventeenth harmonic for the chromatic scales. Experiment with other scales and arpeggios while “reading from” the corresponding tones (black dots) in the Chart. Also some lip-slurred chromatic scales “against the grain” in the upper treble clef-good for emboucher building! Also some lip-slurred diminished-seventh arpeggios, tracing minor-third increments between adjacent harmonics. While looking at the ETSP Chart, try playing some lip-slurred whole-tone scales: major-second increments between adjacent harmonics “against the grain” (up and down) from around the top of the bass clef up into the treble clef. Although different real instruments played by the same player (and the same instrument played by different players) will differ from this “theoretical” natural-harmonic model, the correct practical positions on well-designed instruments will not vary by more than a few millimetres. See the ETSP Chart for the Bb trombone (without attachment), below. A more precise graphical portrayal of Equitempered Tones (vertical axis) versus Slide Position extension (horizontal axis) results in a good representation of where to find equitempered tones-the ETSP Chart. So all these tones require slide-position adjustment for equitemperament, as shown precisely in Mark McDunn’s diagram.Īnders Larson’s Digitaltrombone chart (from the second to the twelfth harmonic) is qualitatively correct, but quantitatively fairly “approximate”. essentially half-way between reference positions) the thirteenth is 41¢ sharp the fifteenth is 12¢ flat (2¢ sharper than the fifth harmonic or 14¢ flatter than the third). twice as sharp as the third) the eleventh and twenty-second are 49¢ flat (i.e. In these fixed reference positions, compared to their nearest (in frequency) equitempered tones, the third, sixth, twelfth, and twenty-fourth natural harmonics are all 2¢ sharp the fifth, tenth, and twentieth are all 14¢ flat the seventh and fourteenth are 31¢ flat the ninth and eighteenth are 4¢ sharp (i.e. The reference positions correspond to fixed positions for natural harmonics one, two, four, eight, and sixteen. We must add seven new (different) positions for each odd harmonic above that. Mark McDunn’s “The 51 Positions” chart goes from the first natural harmonic (pedal) up to the sixteenth harmonic. When they get note-wise close there is just not enough room to display everything on paper, but the mind's eye can zoom in on the detail to follow the paths. And most charts do not well handle the compression of partials as they go up. The ear can then recognize in aural context there are position paths available for play, not just notes.Īnyway, this chart does not support that kind of thing. So melody becomes a path of connected positions in the chart. (Lower in his visual model is higher in pitch-don't get that part.)Īnyway, the internal visual model allows one to think visually about lines, and Greg does that in his chart. The best representation of such chart I have seen is in Greg Waits' book, but for some reason his internal model is upside down relative to mine. What I mean by internal model is an internal visualization of the position chart. This chart does not align with my internal model, though it seems pretty accurate for someone with a horn that behaves in that way on his own face. |
